Managing Uncertainties in Noise Measurements and Prediction
is becoming a new challenge for noise and vibration control
engineers and a key issue for many actors, European and public
bodies, environmentalists, automotive and transport industries,
machine and construction products manufacturers...
Papers coming from nearly all countries of Europe and from the
4 other continents will be presented during this International-
INCE Symposium, the first event ever dedicated to this topic,
which will take place at ENSIM and ISMANS, in Le Mans
(France) from Monday 27 June to Wednesday 29 June.
INCE/Europe and CIDB with the help of ENSIM and the support
of the EAA and many other national institutions have done their
best to organize the event in this attractive medieval town
worldwide famous for its 24 hours sports car race situated
only 55 minutes from Paris by TGV ... and primarily to establish
an exciting technical programme.
The programme of this three-day event will include 6 plenary
lectures and over 100 technical papers given in 4 parallel
sessions.
In order to get away from the rigid presentation-question
scheme and enable ample exchanges, discussions will be
organized at the end of the technical sessions and participants
will have the opportunity to contribute to discussion sessions
and open sessions by short presentations.
Moreover, a plenary discussion session will be organized in
the last part of the symposium in order to exchange on the
responsibilities of all those who play a role in the management
of uncertainties.
For those who would like to refresh their knowledge in the
domain, a short course “Basic of uncertainties” is scheduled
on Sunday 26 June.
During their stay in Le Mans, participants will have the
opportunity to have a visit of the famous «24 hours» racing
circuit and visit the Musée de l’Automobile. A guided tour will
also enable them to discover the beautiful medieval town and
its roman St Julien Cathedral.

Pourquoi participer ?
Gérer les incertitudes de mesure est devenu un nouveau défi
pour les acousticiens et un enjeu majeur pour de nombreux
acteurs de l’environnement, de l’industrie, du bâtiment ou
encore pour les législateurs.
C’est pourquoi, INCE Europe et le CIDB avec l’aide de ENSIM
et de soutien de l’European Acoustics Association ont souhaité
organiser un symposium sur le sujet au sein de l’Université
du Maine, un des grands pôles de recherche en acoustique
en France.
Il se déroulera du 27 au 29 juin 2005 dans les locaux de
l’ENSIM et de l’ISMANS situées sur le campus universitaire
du Mans.
Le programme de ces trois jours comprend 6 conférences
plénières et plus de 100 contributions techniques présentées
dans 4 sessions parallèles.
Pour éviter les présentations trop rigides et favoriser les
échanges entre participants, chaque session se terminera
par un débat dans lequel les participants pourront présenter
des contributions pour alimenter les discussions.
De plus, un débat en session plénière, lors duquel les
conclusions des précédentes sessions seront présentées et
discutées, est proposé aux participants lors de la dernière
demi-journée. Ce sera l’occasion de mettre en évidence les
responsabilités de chacun dans la gestion des incertitudes.
Pour ceux qui le souhaitent, un «short course» sur les
«Éléments de base des incertitudes», organisé par le CETIAT
est prévu le dimanche 26 juin.
Lors de leur séjour, les participants pourront retrouver les
décors de «Cyrano de Bergerac» en visitant la vieille ville du
Mans et partager les émotions de Henri Pescarolo en tournant
sur le célèbre circuit des 24 heures du Mans.
